Sometimes, the taste of a made from scratch dish can elevate any meal, and this fresh cranberry sauce does just that! Forget about the canned cranberry sauce, there’s a new favorite in town, right in time for the Holidays!

Why Fresh Cranberry Sauce is perfect for the Holidays!

I stumbled upon wanting to make a fresh cranberry sauce when I saw a markdown on cranberries, and I wanted to skip the canned gel that is traditionally served on Thanksgiving and Christmas tables around the country. The only thing was, I needed to make it simple, and I needed it to be prepared in advance. I had way too many other dishes to prepare to add a complicated one to my already growing menu. I soon discovered fresh cranberries can make amazing sauce!

From the sweetness to the tart pings of flavor, this fresh cranberry sauce was loved by EVERYONE! Not one person said they preferred the canned version over this recipe. Guess what. It is the easiest recipe I made on Thanksgiving! Only 3 ingredients are needed! Give it a try and let me know how everyone loved it!

Equipment Needed

  • Saucepan or Cooking Pot
  • Spoon to Stir

Ingredients

The only thing I needed from the grocery for this recipe was the cranberries. After all, it is only 3 ingredients! I easily double this recipe if I am feeding a large crowd.

Ocean Spray Cranberry in bag
  • 1 (12 oz.) Package of Fresh Cranberries (Ocean Spray was the brand I used.)
  • 1 Cup of Water
  • 1 Cup of Granulated Sugar (I use organic raw cane sugar, so the syrup appears to have a darker color.)

Instructions

Step 1: Bring water and sugar to a boil over high heat. (Remember, I used organic raw cane sugar, so my sugar and water mixture looks brown. )
